AN AMAZING FESTIVAL IN MY HOMETOWN
Growing up in my hometown, a small and beautiful village in the countryside 100 kilometers away from VungTau city brings me so much unforgettable memories, especially a lot of incredible memories about some festivals which I enjoyed a lot when I was a little girl. One of them that I love so much is the Full-moon festival which I did not know is also a popular festival in Asia until I was 10. This festival is original come from China. It soon spreads out and becomes more popular in Viet Nam and some other countries nowadays.
It is the most expecting festival for kids in my village at that time. It is always celebrated in the evening on 15th, lunar August. On Full-moon festival, kids play outside with hand-made lanterns and enjoy the beautiful moon which is the brightest and roundest moon in a year. Also in my village, it is believed that the moon light on this day can dispel the darkness and bad luck. Here is how people celebrate this festival in my hometown.
On the first stage, about two days before the festival, all kids about 5-12 years old eagerly start to make various kinds of lanterns, which is the most essential thing that without it, we cannot celebrate this festival. They usually spend all day long for creating their own lanterns. The materials are some color papers, branches of bamboo, bottles, red light candles, lighters and some glue. It is greatly meaningful that those lanterns are hand-made, kids having so much fun making it together and enjoy their creativity. As a child, making lanterns was one of my favorite parts of the Full moon festival.
On 15th, lunar August, when nighttime comes, the sky appears to be such a beautiful night with the roundest and brightest moon in year. Sparkling rays of moonlight brighten every corner. The air is pure and fresh but a little wind. Around 7pm, all kids in my village lighten their own lanterns and start to gather in the front yard of the oldest men’s house in our village to listen to an annual old fairy story. The story is a legendary about the origin of the moon called “ Miss Hang & Uncle Cuoi”. This tells us all the myths explain where the moon comes from and why we have Miss Hang & Uncle Cuoi nowadays. Kids sit together radially with twinkling lanterns in their hands and listen quietly. The old men will sit in the centre of the big circle and they all sit under the moonlight. In spite of the fact that, we all memorize every word, every sentences of this legendary, we cannot refuse sitting down together in such a beautiful moon night and enjoy a peaceful moment like that. After the end of the story, kids will receive lots of candies and cakes. Then they start to sing and dance happily in a big circle. The atmosphere is full of laughter and happy songs.
Around 8pm is the most expecting time for kids on this night. This is a time to make a parade. Kids will hold their lanterns on their hands and start to walk to the streets. They separate into many small groups to walk to every corner. Every corner is filled of kids and beautiful lanterns light. Kids are walking, eating candies and reading a traditional rhythm at the same time. The poem always has to be about “Miss Hang & Uncle Cuoi”.
After that, around 9pm, kids start to gather on the main street again to say goodbye and go home with their lanterns. But it is still not the end of the festival. As soon as they come home, kids will hang their lantern in front of their porch and say goodbye to their own lantern. Then they will join their family to have dinner and eat moon-cake, a special cake only eaten on this festival. The festival ends with a warm atmosphere of family gathering. It ends with a peaceful night like this. Full moon festival brings so much amazing moments for everybody, especially for kids.
Even though I have grown up to be an adult, Full moon festival is always my best festival. I hope that kids in my village nowadays could still experience such an incredible like Full moon festival to worth it a childhood.

CLASSIFICATION ESSAY
TOPIC: Kinds of teaching styles that you have experienced so far.
In the future, I want to become an excellent teacher who makes all of my students never forget about me. As being a student for nearly 14 years, I have been experienced 3 main kinds of teaching styles that creates unforgettable memory in my life.
The first one, which is also the most fantastic style for me is a funny style. This style belongs to an English teacher of my class in 12th grade. For me, he is the funniest teacher in the world. As I still remember, he always smiles in class. His class time was the most expecting time for us in a week and we were rally longing to study his class. In one class, he always tells us at least one funny story. His class is the time to break into laughter and relax. Besides, he always has great funny games in class. Sometimes, his games were so stupid that we couldn’t stand laughing. Because of his great sense of humor, my class love him very much, especially all the girls who always got teased by his special sense. Thanks to him, my classmates and I began to enjoy learning English so much. He has helped us improving our English a lot with his unique slogan “come on, it’s English time. It’s time for fun.” He is the best teacher with a great sense of humor in my student life.
The second teaching style that has impressed me a lot is how friendly and caring my teachers are. This is a style that many teachers in my student life have. Friendly and caring teachers make us feel like a family, not a class. For example, Mr. Tuan, my Math teacher in 10th grade, he was an amazingly friendly and caring teacher. Even though he is a man, he shared with us everything. He talked about anything going on in his life, especially he shares so much about the woman of his life, how and what they have been through to get married. He is like a brother, an uncle of my class. Besides, he is really caring teacher. He cares about all of the students in class even though he is not a study consultant of my class. Because Math is not an easy subject, he explains the lessons very carefully so that everybody can understand all. When some students have questions, he slowly explains again from the beginning. Moreover, he cares not only about our studying, he also cares about our life too. He once took a sick girl in my class to the hospital which is 10kms far away. He cares about us like his family member. All of my classmates love and respect him very much. We enjoy class and study very hard to please him, which is the only way we could do something for him. He is a friendly and caring teacher who changes our life.
The last style which is also my favorite style is being a cold and strict teacher. This style has haunted me from the day I knew it. A cold and strict teacher makes students very scared and depressed and I hate it. Remember the time when I was in 11th grade, Ms. Thu, my geography teacher had a real clod and strict style. We didn’t see her smile in class for nearly a year. Look like she has ice frozen all over her face. Due to her always frowned face, we couldn’t feel any relaxation in class. In her class time, the room is very quiet; nobody says a word but her. I still remember how terrified we were on that Monday morning. She walked into a dirty class room with an unclear board and chaos of table and desks because we hadn’t finished cleaning yet. The first thing she did was she didn’t speak in 15 minutes. Then she looked at us, deliberately gazing at the monitor and began to scold us for nearly half of the class time. Everybody was terrified; nobody said a word until the monitor started to apology in crying. We were so scared of her that day. Even worse, she is very hard to give high marks, and she is really demanding. It’s not so easy to get her 8th mark. There are always a lot of difficult exercises for us to do in one week. Anyone who hasn’t finished homework is not allowed to come to class. I still remember nearly 3/4 of my class were failed her subject that year. She is too cold and strict that makes my class hate studying. We just study to deal with the grades and pass the exams. There is no motivation and passion at all. Her teaching style badly affects me so that I swear I will never be a teacher that scares students away like that.
There are 3 main teaching styles that I have been witness in my life. As a person who wants to become a teacher , I hope that students who have the same interest should try to study more and create a unique style that make students always remember.

what makes a good global citizen?
Global citizen is a new term that has appeared some later years in many countries creating a fantastic movement in the youth nowadays. Global citizen is conception of the awareness toward global issues of all the human beings, especially for the youth in all over the world. As Ox ham, an international confederation of 14 organizations working in 98 countries worldwide to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice says: “We see a Global Citizen as someone who is aware of the wider world and has a sense of their own role as a world citizen; respects and values diversity; has an understanding of how the world works economically, politically, socially, culturally, technologically and environmentally; participates in and contributes to the community at a range of levels from local to global…”. In my opinion, there are several qualities that make a good global citizen.
First of all, a good global citizen needs to be empathy and understanding. It means we need to put our heart for the people we don’t know in over the world. A good global citizen always shows empathy for people around; especially those are in need such as poor people, the olds, orphaned and disabled children... A valued understanding and empathy action doesn’t always mean big and remarkable things; small and modest things are always respectfully counted. For example, there is nothing great to compare to an action of raising thousands of dollars to do charity, but it is also so kind of a student willingly to help an old man across the roads in a chaos traffic jam. Besides, as a global citizen, understanding and sharing suffer of people around us also bring happiness.
