argumentative essay

I strongly agree that we should apply copyright law in all over the world for several reasons.

First of all, copyright law will protect many benefits of authors and their intellectual property. Copyright law will deter books, films, songs… from being stolen and made copy illegally. With copyright law, no one can steal others work and use it without paying money. For example, when a copy right is made for a new novel, it tells the world that who is a real author of that achievement so that anyone who wants to read this book has to pay for it. Moreover, copyright law also encourages authors to make more intellectual products. It makes authors feel safe with their attempt so that it gives them a strong motivation to contribute more.

Secondly, copyright law helps to increase democracy and reduce crime in our society. Thanks to copyright law, people will live in a fairer society. People will receive an appropriate benefit with their attempt and hard-working. Just imagine that living a country without copyright law; someone is making unlawful cheap copied CDs of your documentary film which you have spent hardly 7 years to make it. And now everybody is watching your film without even paying for it. Is it fair to live in a society like that? When copyright law is applied, however, it is fairer for both makers and buyers. In additionally, copyright law can also reduce crime effectively. Anyone who makes copy of books, CDs, films… and sells it illegally is considered as criminal should be banned by copyright law. When the law is made, there will be lots of serious punishments like publicly reeducated, paying big amount of money or even putting in jail to prevent criminal from committing crime. Thus, our society will be fairer and less crime.

There is still disapproval ideal that poor students will have more difficulty to access books when copyright law is applied. Although it is a reasonable ideal for poor students who want to save money by buying books with cheap price, I think that there can be another better solution for this case. How about buying books together. By doing this, 3 or 5 students can own one book and share it to read in turns. This is not only a funnier way to read books but also a saving money way for poor students. It helps them realize the valuable of their books so that they will read and keep books very carefully. Besides, going to the library to read books is also a good solution for poor students when copyright law is made. Instead of making illegally copy of books, it is a remarkable habit of going to the library which is a fantastic place with lots of interesting books to read to get more knowledge.

There are several reasons why copyright law should be applied all over the world. It firstly protects authors who contribute their intellectual property for the world; copyright law also helps to make the world more fair and peaceful. As being a student, I hope that students ourselves will realize how bad it is to make unlawful copy of other intellectual products.

AN AMAZING FESTIVAL IN MY HOMETOWN
Growing up in my hometown, a small and beautiful village in the countryside 100 kilometers away from VungTau city brings me so much unforgettable memories, especially a lot of incredible memories about some festivals which I enjoyed a lot when I was a little girl. One of them that I love so much is the Full-moon festival which I did not know is also a popular festival in Asia until I was 10. This festival is original come from China. It soon spreads out and becomes more popular in Viet Nam and some other countries nowadays.
It is the most expecting festival for kids in my village at that time. It is always celebrated in the evening on 15th, lunar August. On Full-moon festival, kids play outside with hand-made lanterns and enjoy the beautiful moon which is the brightest and roundest moon in a year. Also in my village, it is believed that the moon light on this day can dispel the darkness and bad luck. Here is how people celebrate this festival in my hometown.

On the first stage, about two days before the festival, all kids about 5-12 years old eagerly start to make various kinds of lanterns, which is the most essential thing that without it, we cannot celebrate this festival. They usually spend all day long for creating their own lanterns. The materials are some color papers, branches of bamboo, bottles, red light candles, lighters and some glue. It is greatly meaningful that those lanterns are hand-made, kids having so much fun making it together and enjoy their creativity. As a child, making lanterns was one of my favorite parts of the Full moon festival.
On 15th, lunar August, when nighttime comes, the sky appears to be such a beautiful night with the roundest and brightest moon in year. Sparkling rays of moonlight brighten every corner. The air is pure and fresh but a little wind. Around 7pm, all kids in my village lighten their own lanterns and start to gather in the front yard of the oldest men’s house in our village to listen to an annual old fairy story. The story is a legendary about the origin of the moon called “ Miss Hang & Uncle Cuoi”. This tells us all the myths explain where the moon comes from and why we have Miss Hang & Uncle Cuoi nowadays. Kids sit together radially with twinkling lanterns in their hands and listen quietly. The old men will sit in the centre of the big circle and they all sit under the moonlight. In spite of the fact that, we all memorize every word, every sentences of this legendary, we cannot refuse sitting down together in such a beautiful moon night and enjoy a peaceful moment like that. After the end of the story, kids will receive lots of candies and cakes. Then they start to sing and dance happily in a big circle. The atmosphere is full of laughter and happy songs.
Around 8pm is the most expecting time for kids on this night. This is a time to make a parade. Kids will hold their lanterns on their hands and start to walk to the streets. They separate into many small groups to walk to every corner. Every corner is filled of kids and beautiful lanterns light. Kids are walking, eating candies and reading a traditional rhythm at the same time. The poem always has to be about “Miss Hang & Uncle Cuoi”.
After that, around 9pm, kids start to gather on the main street again to say goodbye and go home with their lanterns. But it is still not the end of the festival. As soon as they come home, kids will hang their lantern in front of their porch and say goodbye to their own lantern. Then they will join their family to have dinner and eat moon-cake, a special cake only eaten on this festival. The festival ends with a warm atmosphere of family gathering. It ends with a peaceful night like this. Full moon festival brings so much amazing moments for everybody, especially for kids.
Even though I have grown up to be an adult, Full moon festival is always my best festival. I hope that kids in my village nowadays could still experience such an incredible like Full moon festival to worth it a childhood.

CLASSIFICATION ESSAY

TOPIC: Kinds of teaching styles that you have experienced so far.

In the future, I want to become an excellent teacher who makes all of my students never forget about me. As being a student for nearly 14 years, I have been experienced 3 main kinds of teaching styles that creates unforgettable memory in my life.
The first one, which is also the most fantastic style for me is a funny style. This style belongs to an English teacher of my class in 12th grade. For me, he is the funniest teacher in the world. As I still remember, he always smiles in class. His class time was the most expecting time for us in a week and we were rally longing to study his class. In one class, he always tells us at least one funny story. His class is the time to break into laughter and relax. Besides, he always has great funny games in class. Sometimes, his games were so stupid that we couldn’t stand laughing. Because of his great sense of humor, my class love him very much, especially all the girls who always got teased by his special sense. Thanks to him, my classmates and I began to enjoy learning English so much. He has helped us improving our English a lot with his unique slogan “come on, it’s English time. It’s time for fun.” He is the best teacher with a great sense of humor in my student life.
The second teaching style that has impressed me a lot is how friendly and caring my teachers are. This is a style that many teachers in my student life have. Friendly and caring teachers make us feel like a family, not a class. For example, Mr. Tuan, my Math teacher in 10th grade, he was an amazingly friendly and caring teacher. Even though he is a man, he shared with us everything. He talked about anything going on in his life, especially he shares so much about the woman of his life, how and what they have been through to get married. He is like a brother, an uncle of my class. Besides, he is really caring teacher. He cares about all of the students in class even though he is not a study consultant of my class. Because Math is not an easy subject, he explains the lessons very carefully so that everybody can understand all. When some students have questions, he slowly explains again from the beginning. Moreover, he cares not only about our studying, he also cares about our life too. He once took a sick girl in my class to the hospital which is 10kms far away. He cares about us like his family member. All of my classmates love and respect him very much. We enjoy class and study very hard to please him, which is the only way we could do something for him. He is a friendly and caring teacher who changes our life.
The last style which is also my favorite style is being a cold and strict teacher. This style has haunted me from the day I knew it. A cold and strict teacher makes students very scared and depressed and I hate it. Remember the time when I was in 11th grade, Ms. Thu, my geography teacher had a real clod and strict style. We didn’t see her smile in class for nearly a year. Look like she has ice frozen all over her face. Due to her always frowned face, we couldn’t feel any relaxation in class. In her class time, the room is very quiet; nobody says a word but her. I still remember how terrified we were on that Monday morning. She walked into a dirty class room with an unclear board and chaos of table and desks because we hadn’t finished cleaning yet. The first thing she did was she didn’t speak in 15 minutes. Then she looked at us, deliberately gazing at the monitor and began to scold us for nearly half of the class time. Everybody was terrified; nobody said a word until the monitor started to apology in crying. We were so scared of her that day. Even worse, she is very hard to give high marks, and she is really demanding. It’s not so easy to get her 8th mark. There are always a lot of difficult exercises for us to do in one week. Anyone who hasn’t finished homework is not allowed to come to class. I still remember nearly 3/4 of my class were failed her subject that year. She is too cold and strict that makes my class hate studying. We just study to deal with the grades and pass the exams. There is no motivation and passion at all. Her teaching style badly affects me so that I swear I will never be a teacher that scares students away like that.
There are 3 main teaching styles that I have been witness in my life. As a person who wants to become a teacher , I hope that students who have the same interest should try to study more and create a unique style that make students always remember.

what makes a good global citizen?

Global citizen is a new term that has appeared some later years in many countries creating a fantastic movement in the youth nowadays. Global citizen is conception of the awareness toward global issues of all the human beings, especially for the youth in all over the world. As Ox ham, an international confederation of 14 organizations working in 98 countries worldwide to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice says: “We see a Global Citizen as someone who is aware of the wider world and has a sense of their own role as a world citizen; respects and values diversity; has an understanding of how the world works economically, politically, socially, culturally, technologically and environmentally; participates in and contributes to the community at a range of levels from local to global…”. In my opinion, there are several qualities that make a good global citizen.
First of all, a good global citizen needs to be empathy and understanding. It means we need to put our heart for the people we don’t know in over the world. A good global citizen always shows empathy for people around; especially those are in need such as poor people, the olds, orphaned and disabled children... A valued understanding and empathy action doesn’t always mean big and remarkable things; small and modest things are always respectfully counted. For example, there is nothing great to compare to an action of raising thousands of dollars to do charity, but it is also so kind of a student willingly to help an old man across the roads in a chaos traffic jam. Besides, as a global citizen, understanding and sharing suffer of people around us also bring happiness.

Student life in the context of high inflation

Student life in the context of high inflation
About a week ago, Kate, a friend of mine, told me that she might have to drop out of school this year. She said that she couldn’t handle paying school fee this semester. And that is one of many bad consequences happening to my friend as well as lots of students recently resulted from high inflation. The gas price is going up extremely high so that it leads to a rise in the general price such as goods and services. More seriously, money is losing its values. And all of that make students who mostly depend on parents and haven’t worked yet in dire need, lots of students quit school, they lose their renting house or even don’t have enough money to buy food. In my opinion, high inflation is creating some seriously negative effects on student’s life.
First of all, studying of students is affected badly. In the context of high inflation, all the prices are going up very high so that it absolutely leads to a rise in school fee in general especially private schools. For example, in my university as a public school, school fee increase from 75000VND/credit to 100000VND/credit. As a result, lots of students who do not have enough money to pay for school fee have to drop out of school. Moreover, the price of books, materials, studying tools also increases very high. Its costs a lot of money to buy books and all the stuff needed for learning such as notebooks, pens, dictionary… I still remember that in the last semester, my brother gave me 300000VND to purchase all the books and materials I need. But now, that amount of money couldn’t buy half of the books I need. Consequently, many students are studying without books. The lack of books and learning tools is increasing rapidly so that it effects to the result of studying. High inflation is making students learn less effectively and more distracted.
Secondly, high inflation creates bad health for students. Because of all the extremely high price of food, students cannot afford much nitrous food every day. The price of food is mostly double high. I remember reading on news; a student in College of Finance and Customs told that she went to the market with 50000VND to buy food to cook for a dinner of 4 people. Finally she went back home with nothing much, just some egg, fresh bamboo shoots, spinach and cabbage. Meat is something unaffordable for students. Student’s meals are lacking nitrous food, especially lacking of meat products. As a result, this makes student health get deteriorated. It is easier for students to get sick. In addition, due to high inflation, student’s health is affected badly because they have to earn money by taking part time jobs at night which is supposed to be a rest time after a long day studying. It leads to a lack of sleep; students always get tired and stressful.

Last but not least, high inflation also causes bad effect on social life of students. Going out activities for students is limited due to the high price. Everything is increasing price such as the bus tickets, parking cash, movie ticket… so that going out is not so easy if students don’t have money. Consequently, it is not so often for students to go to a movie or go picnic or go shopping at the weekend anymore. Because students don’t go out, they cannot meet new people so that students are easier to get more depressed and passive.
High inflation these days is causing many serious effects on student’s life, not only studying and health but also social life.

student's life in the context of high inflation

1. Intro 1
About a week ago, Kate, a friend of mine, told me that she might have to drop out of school this year. She said that she couldn’t handle paying school fee this semester. And that is one of many bad consequences happening to my friend as well as lots of students recently due to high inflation. And all of that make students who mostly depend on parents and haven’t worked yet in dire need, lots of students quit school, they lose their renting house or even don’t have enough money to buy food. In my opinion, high inflation is making some negative effects on student’s life.
2. Intro 2
Living in HCMC these days is not so easy for everybody especially students who haven’t had a stable job yet. Months ago, my parents regularly gave me 1.5 million VND allowances each month which I could spend freely for the whole month. But now, facing with a high inflation in HCMC, that amount of money wouldn’t last for 3 weeks. All prices are going up very high while money is gradually losing its values. 100VND is not so worthies than it used to be. As a student, I could understand the pressure that every student is struggling with in the context of high inflation, I know how hard it is to save money by skip over breakfast, how it feels when we do not have enough money to buy meat for days. This causes many negative effects on student’s life. Money becomes a bigger concern for all students. In my opinion, there are several solutions that students can do to survive in this high inflation.

the power of writing

The power of writing
Writing is an essential and important skill that everyone has had since we were children. While many many people enjoy writing very much, lots of people think that writing is very boring and useless. In my opinion, writing is very powerful. There are 3 important and powerful functions that writing can do.
First of all, writing is a really good way to express our thoughts. We can express our thinking about any topics through essays, magazines or newspapers. It is a lot better than speaking that we have time to think in writing. For instance, in a speaking contest, the topic is about “murderers nowadays”, it will be more persuasive when we have 10 minutes to think first, then select and organize ideals and write down some notes before speak so that our speech will be more fluent and effective.
Secondly, writing creates clear and permanent records. Unlike speaking or listening which we mostly forget, writing helps us remember things by making records. For example, taking notes in class is also a writing way that becomes very useful in the exam season. Moreover, these clear and permanent records are very useful in the future. We can keep memorable things and read anytime. We can keep a dairy for 20 years later, for instance.
Last but not least, writing makes us be smarter and more active. As we know, reading daily is an excellent way to have a clear and active brain and so does writing. To have a good writing, we need to know what type of writing it is, how to arrange and organize sentences appropriately. It requires our mind to think and think effectively. Thus it trains our mind to be more organized and logical. Moreover, thanks to the deviation of the topics, from politics to economy or education to marriage, we need to read a lot to learn vocabulary to serve for writing so that our brain is forced to learn and remember a lot. Thus writing helps us to be smarter and more active.
There are several powerful functions that writing can do. Making persuasive thoughts, creating permanent records and especially helping active brain are really useful and interesting things that writing can do. I hope that there will be more and more people realize that and enjoy writing more.
